This Friday is World Down Syndrome Day. World Down Syndrome Day is on the 21st of March every year to represent the triplication trisomy of the 21st
chromosome that causes Down Syndrome. It is a global awareness day
which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. On
Friday we will celebrate this day and raise awareness for the rights,
inclusion and well-being of all people with Down Syndrome. We are asking
all staff and students to wear socks that are going to get noticed.
They might be mismatched socks or your boldest and most colourful socks. When people ask you about your socks you can say, "I am wearing them to raise awareness about Down Syndrome'.
Yesterday the BM Chess team traveled to the Catholic Education Centre to participate in the 2nd
annual Wellington Catholic District School Board Chess tournament.
Intense battles commenced over a series of five rounds. After the dust
settled there were multiple ties in multiple division, hence sudden
death games were played to determine the winners.
Congratulations
goes out to Josh Cookson taking Bronze in his division, Jimmy Locke
bringing home Silver, and Andrian Marsili for winning Bishop Mac's first
Chess Tournament Gold medal in the senior division.
